The students read the story Meeting Mr. Henry as a class.  The story was about a boy named Jason who was cut from his baseball team for daydreaming during the game.  Jason was so upset that he went into the school and talked to the janitor Mr. Henry.  While inside Mr. Henry talked to Jason about famous baseball players from the Negro League.
I divided the class into groups and gave them a team Mr. Henry told Jason about.  They made posters displaying their research.

Book Reviews

The students wrote book reviews for our writing class.  The first paragraph is a summary of their book.  In the second paragraph they were suppose to review the book and in the last paragraph they were recommending the book for someone else to read.  They also included an illustration of their favorite scene or redrew the cover of the book.
The Last Olympian written by Rick Riorden Percy tried to destroy Kronos by blowing up the Princess Andromeda but he didn’t and Kronos is going to Mt. Olympus to destroy is. Every time he fights he has to rest along time because he bathed in the river Styx so his power drains faster than normal. While he is fighting Kronos he sent Silena to go convince Clarisse to help fight, and while she was gone Kronos sent a drakon which can only be killed by a child of Ares. Clarisse came when her armor was missing and all her siblings had left to follow Silena. The drakon spit poison in Silena’s face that burned through the armor and killed Silena who gave them a charm to Kronos’s scythe. Chiron had an arrow pointed at Kronos but a dracaena queen lunged so he shot it with a bow.
I like this book because it has Greek Gods, centaurs, titans and other Greek stuff. It has action like sword fighting Cyclops fighting, hyperborean giants. There is chariots, drakons , and Pegasus. There is even a minotaur, Greek fire, automatons and the Empire state building. I didn’t like that Beckendorf died. I could relate to Tyson because I like peanut butter.
I would recommend this book to someone who likes action, comedy and Greek mythology. It has sword fighting hyperborean giants that crush stuff. Kronos, slowing time, and drakons spitting poison.

The book is called Mouse & the Motorcycle written by: Beverly Cleary. The story takes place in a hotel room 217. A boy named Keith was playing with his toys then they went to sleep. In the night a mouse named Ralph found Keith’s toy motorcycle. But then Ralph rid it in the trash can he was trapped but Keith helped him and that’s when they became friends. But later in the story Keith gets sick but dad& mom had no aspirin pellets so Ralph went to get one. He found one but it was underneath a clock. When Ralph got out from the clock a women came by so he slid under the clock .If you want to know more read it.
I like the book because it has Ralph. Ralph might be the funniest character I have ever read about because a mouse rides a motorcycle and it worked. I also have an interest in Keith he is awesome; because he can talk to a mouse. Now that’s cool.
I think 4th and 5th graders would enjoy this book. It has lots of funny characters and good parts. Most people would like it because it has a motorcycle.

I read the book Mouse and the Motorcycle by Beverly. Ralph is a mouse that lives in a hotel. A boy named Keith moved in the same hotel that Ralph is living in.  The boy got Ralph a motorcycle. Keith let Ralph ride it. Keith got sick so Ralph helped get an aspirin so he could get better. When the boy left he left the motorcycle for Ralph.
I like this book because the mouse was cool and rode a motorcycle. I like motorcycles too. They are fun to ride over the terraces. I have two motorcycles. One of them I got from my b-day the other one was given to me from my cousin.
Some one that likes mice and motorcycles would like this book. If you like action books you will love this book. If you’re interested pick up a copy.

The book that I read was a very good book it’s called kidnapping Kevin Kowalski. The author is a fantastic writer her name is Mary Jane Auch. What happens in the book is Ryan and his friends sneak out of the house to go camp by the stream. While their mom and dad were on a trip. They went to get their neighbors 4-wheeler, while riding the 4-wheeler Kevin fell off and broke his arm. His mother was worried where he was when they got back from the trip.
I like this book because it has a lot of auction in the book and I like it because I like 4-wheelers and I like to go camping. I even like going to a stream.
Some girls wouldn’t like this book because it has a lot of outside stuff and they don’t like getting wet in a stream. So that’s the best book I’ve read and his mother finally found him and she was mad.

Jeff Kinney is the author of the book Diary of a Wimpy kids the Ugly truth. Greg has to get the talk with grammie after Uncle Grays fourth wedding. Greg is the backup flower boy in the wedding. His parents keep getting on his case about staying up all night, and playing video games too. They want him to go outside and get active and stop being so lazy. Greg jokes around after Rowley and he watch the muddy hand movie. Also Greg jokes around by going out in the woods at night and comes back acting like he got chased by an animal.
I like this book because it has a lot of action and it is humorous.  Like when Greg really hates to walk through the shower house.  Or when gremmie burps during the wedding and everyone starts to laugh.  They had a lot of action and a little laziness with some of the book.  They get a dog his name is Sweetie and he likes grandma more than anyone else in their family.  So they give Sweetie to grandma and she takes Sweetie everywhere she goes and does everything with her.
Someone who likes action books, a little bit of laziness, and a whole lot of funny things would like the book because they keep me interested and there is lots of pictures to look at.  The book is a comic book.  Greg is in middle school and has a hard time keeping out of trouble and keeping his parents happy with him.  Greg and Rowley have a hard time being friends and have tons of fights.  Are your minds wondering about this book?  Then check it out at the library. I hope you enjoy!

The Cockoo Clock of Doom, the author is R.L Stine.  A little boy that was 12years old saw his dad bring a clock into the basement from a furniture store. While they were putting the clock in the basement the little boy noticed some years on the clock that were missing. After they put the clock down the little boy switched the year. They went backwards in time,do you want to see what the ending is? Well you have to read this book to findout what the ending is.
I liked this book because it’s a mystery book and I love mystery books. I love the books but sometimes they are scary. I like to figure out what the mystery is sometimes my eyes get watery from some of those books. I get watery because the books are sometimes sad.
Harlee Borders would like this book because she likes mystery books too. She can dislike them but most of the time she likes them. Sometimes Harlee Borders gets watery eyes also.

This book is about a boy named Hugo Cabret.  Hugo goes to live with his Uncle in the train station after his dad died in a fire.  Hugo helps his Uncle fix clocks in the train station. Then one day Hugo’s Uncle disappears and Hugo has to fix all the clocks in the train station by himself. Hugo finds a mechanical man that his dad had been fixing. He decides that he’s going to finish fixing it. He meets a girl and . . . . . .  Well you’ll just have to read the book to know what happens next.
I liked the book a lot. I thought it was way better than the movie. I liked the book because Hugo hides in vents, fixes all 27 clocks, steals food and milk to be able to survive, and is really good at fixing things. I can relate to a scene in the book were Hugo watches a movie were a bullet flies into the eye of the moon. I’ve seen that movie also.
If you like books about fixing things, stealing things, hiding, and train stations than this is your kind of book. In this book you will learn about a boy that fixes all 27 clocks in the train station. Hugo gets caught stealing from an old man’s toy booth and has to work to try to get his note book back that the old man took from him. You should definitely read this book!

The book’s name is The Mystery Dog Show, and the Author is Gertrude Chandler Warner. This book is about a family that is having a dog show in their town. Their grandpa is letting his friend stay at his house for the dog show. His friend’s daughter has her dog in the show. The next day she went to the dog show building. After the family came they walked around with them. Then they started to practice. The next day they went to the dog show. Someone was sabotaging the show. Then he stole the dog. If you want to know what happens next read it.
I love the book because like dogs and mysteries. I can relate to the story because have been to a dog show before. It was fun! I lost my dog too but we found her.
I would recommend this book to people who like mysteries, and dogs. So just pick up the book and read it. There is a whole series.

The book that I will write about is called Mouse and the Motorcycle. Beverly Cleary was the author of this book. There is a kid named Keith and a mouse named Ralph. Keith is staying at a hotel for a while with his parents. Soon Keith finds a living mouse running around in the hotel. Keith gave him a toy motorcycle for Ralph to ride. Soon Keith becomes very ill and well you will have to read the book to find out what happens at the end.
I liked this book a lot because this book has action, some parts where Ralph is in a dead end, and very understands meaning the book is in order and not confusing. I am not able to anyone in this book. The reason is because I do not have a friend of a mouse. I do not get very ill often and do not have a job.
People who dislike action, friendship, adventure, and some sadness would probably not like Mouse and the Motorcycle.  People who do like all those things would love this book. I think that even 7 year olds would be able to read this book.

Before, Percy and his friends go into war. Percy and his friend Beckendorf tried to blow up the Titan’s ship, but he actually lost Beckendorf. While they were at war, Percy got the River Gods to sink the enemy’s ships. Then he went to go help the Apollo Cabin they were getting beat up pretty bad. Once the war was almost over, the Titan Lord Kronos got into Mount Olympus and started to destroy it. Percy and Kronos started to fight and Percy was successful. If you want to read the whole book it’s called The Last Olympian and it’s by Rick Riordan.
I like this book because it has action, it’s funny at times, and is also sad at times. It’s such an awesome book that I couldn’t stop reading it. I can relate to because we both get angry pretty easily. We also care about friends & family more than anything.
Kids that are in 4th through 6th would like this book. Kids that like action and magic would like book. I would suggest this book to anybody.

Augusta Scattergood the author of Glory Be went a little something like this. A girl named Glory is extremely upset with the council closing the pool. Miss Bloom (her librarian) helped her come up with writing a letter to the editor of the newspaper. Frankie (her friend) came over in the pouring rain to tell her that the pool was open, but she said she had to see it herself. The sign said “opening soon.” Jesslyn (her sister) said that her letter worked it commenced the council to open it again. They soon found out that Frankie put up the fake sign to trick them. Frankie and Glory were mot friends for a while. Find what happens next.
I love this book because I can relate to Glory. I’m trying to fight for my sister’s respect and kindness she respect that she receives. Just like Glory when she is fighting for her pool. Can you relate to Glory to?
A person that likes to read about young people fighting for what they love. You should read Glory Be. It is truly amazing.

Here is how The Son of Neptune by Rick Riordan starts.  There was a guy named Percy Jackson the son of Neptune. He came to a camp called camp Jupiter. He lost his memory so he doesn’t know anything but his friend Annabeth. While he’s at camp Jupiter he makes friends with a son of Mars named Frank and a daughter of Pluto named Hazel. After that he goes on a quest to find the god of death.
I liked the book because it has fighting and it has some funny parts. If you want to go to Alaska they’re scenes of Alaska. Do you like Greek and Roman stuff there is Greek and Roman stuff. If you like fighting this has a lot of fighting.
I would recommend everybody to read this book. It’s funny and awesome. It is so good that I would read it 3 times.

My book is Interference Powder it is written by Jean Hanff Korelitz. Nina Zablins family goes on a vacation to another city. They are living in a house which is a professor’s house. The professor is on a vacation too so they just stayed at his house. Nina hates dogs and the professor didn’t bring his dog with him. He wanted Nina’s family to take care of it when he was gone.
This book has lots of details in it, it’s like I can picture it in my mind. It manly has strong verbs and clear words. This book has no pictures, but that’s why it has strong verbs it makes it easier to read it. That’s why I adore this book.
People who like pictures wouldn’t like this book. It has no pictures in it. People who don’t like pictures will love it.

Guardians of Ga’Hoole the Outcast is by Kathryn Lasky. The book is about an owl named Nyroc who is the son of Nyra. He has fled the pure owls and is on a journey to seek his new life. Then Nyroc goes to Silverveil to find Mist. While he is there he changes his name to Coryn which is Nyroc spelled backwards. Later he goes to Beyond the Beyond and becomes best friends with Hamish who is a gnaw wolf of the MacDuncan clan. Coryn then meets Otulissa who was sent by the scroom of her beloved ancestor Strix Struma. Otulissa started helping Coryn become a collier. A collier is someone who catches bonk coals in mid flight. That is all I can tell you iif you want more you better read the book.
This is a really great book I like it a lot. The book has a lot of action and sometimes it can have lots of excitement. The book is also very adventurous. I would start with the first book though because that would make it even more exciting.
People who are into action and adventure would love the book. I think anyone in fifth grade or up would love the whole Ga’Hoole series especially this book. I started with the first book and that made the series a lot more exciting.  I hope you will like the series as much as I do.
